The Grey Wolf Series of silver coins from the Royal Canadian Mint debuted with the release of this 2015 3/4 oz Canadian Silver Grey Wolf Coin. The RCM plans to release a total of four different designs in the years to come, with one annual release scheduled.
With the release of these 3/4 oz Grey Wolf Coins the Royal Canadian Mint has put one of North Americas greatest predators on the face of its coinage for the fourth time since 2006. That year, a 1/2 Troy oz silver dollar coin was released, followed by the 2011 wolf in the Canadian Wildlife Series and the 2014 release of a .9999 pure gold Howling Wolf coin.
Each of the 2015 3/4 oz Canadian Silver Grey Wolf Coins in this product listing is a BU specimen. Coins in Brilliant Uncirculated condition exhibit no signs of wear and tear, though you may notice minor flaws such as breaks in the luster, spotted surfaces, or contact marks from the coining process.
On the obverse of each Canadian Silver Grey Wolf coin is the right-profile portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majestys image was created in 2003 by Susanna Blunt, a Canadian artist, and includes the engravings of her name and the face value of the coin.
The reverse of 2015 3/4 oz Canadian Silver Grey Wolf Coins features the image of a lone Grey Wolf standing atop a rocky outcrop as it howls off into the distance. Engravings include the nation of issue, year of issue, and the coins metal content and weight.
The Royal Canadian Mint is Canadas official sovereign mint, and it was founded in 1908 during the countrys push toward independence. It operates its original facility in Ottawa, as well as a secondary facility opened in Winnipeg in 1980.
